The Green Hornet Bushed Back in January

Sony Pictures made the decision to push back the release date of the superhero action film The Green Hornet from December 22nd, 2010 to January 14th, 2011. The studio also announced that the film would profit from the 3D treatment.

Sony defends itself to have pushed back the release of the film because of the unfavourable noises surrounding the project. Yogi Bear and Tron: Legacy, two projects in 3D which will be launched next December, will monopolize already most of the numerical screens during this period.

January 14th, 2011 will coincide with the non-working weekend of the Martin Luther King day, a crenel which was already been worthy for Sony with the launching of Paul Blart: Mall Cop in 2009. The comedy had collected 31,8 $US million on its first weekend.

The Frenchd director Michel Gondry (who worked on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep, Be Kind Rewind) directs this film adaptation

The Green Hornet made its beginnings on a radio of Detroit in 1936. He then did the jump in the world of comic books. In 1966, the masked hero was entitled to his own televised series on the waves of the ABC network during one season. Van Williams played the title role while Bruce Lee played Kato, an expert in martial arts.

In the film adaptation, the actor Seth Rogen (Superbad, Knocked Up) incarnates Britt Reid, the character who fights the crime under the name of the Green Hornet whereas Jay Chou plays the part of Kato.
