Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski will give each other the counterpart in Whales, a film which takes as a starting point a true story in connection with the rescue of three gray whales of California which are found captive Arctic ices in 1988.
John Krasinski will incarnate a reporter of a local newspaper which made known the news. Drew Barrymore will play the part of a Greenpeace activist. The event took an international scale when the United States president Ronald Regan and the President of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev slackened the relations of the Cold war while linking themselves and while intervening in this common cause.
Ken Kwapis (who recently worked on He's Just Not That Into You, License to Wed and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) directs the feature film. The scenario for the motion picture will be written by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler (who worked together on The Shaggy Dog in 2006).
The film is produced by Anonymous Content and Working Title. The filming could start this autumn.
Note the John Krasinski is known for his important role in the TV series The Office. He also played in License to Wed, Leatherheads and It's Complicated and his voice was heard in Shrek the Third. Drew Barrymore’s breakout role was in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. She recently was seen in He's Just Not That Into You, Music and Lyrics and 50 First Dates.
