New Line attacks the remake of the comedy Private Benjamin, a feature film published originally in 1980 which put stars Goldie Hawn. The new grinding will be used as vehicle for the actress Anna Faris (Observe and Report, The House Bunny).

The scenario writer Amy Talkington is in talks to write the new version produced par Mark Gordon.

In Private Benjamin, Goldie Hawn incarnated a spoiled woman who joined the army after her husband is deceased during their honeymoon. One of largest successes to the box-office in 1980, the film had been greeted to have tackled the female questions. Private Benjamin had received three nomination in the Oscars Ceremony of which Best Actress (Hawn), Best Supporting Actor (Eileen Brennan) and Best Original Screenplay (Nancy Meyers, Harvey Miller and Charles Shyer).

The remake will proceed in the contemporary world with the modern wars in background. Sources affirm that the studio does not want to make fun of the men and the women in service or to make a political satire.

New Line tries to revitalize old titles coming from the Warner Bros. catalog. Recently, they announced their intention to bring back the Vacation and Academy Police franchises.

Anna Faris will make team soon with Zachary Quinto and Andy Samberg in the comedy What’s Your Number?.
