Movie Preview: The Invention of Lying

Imagine a world without lying... Pretty hard, right? We've all had our share of little white lies now and then; sometimes you just gotta pull one out of your pocket. Well The Invention of Lying, opening this weekend, takes place in a world where no one lies. Talk about drama... Having a bad hair day and you're hoping no one will notice? They will, and they'll tell you to your face. Self-conscious about that new outfit you bought that you like to think is pretty cool, but probably isn't? Yeah, that's free game in a world with no lying too. But what if somebody is suddenly able to lie?

That's what happens in this hilarious comedy starring Ricky Gervais, Jennifer Garner, Jonah Hill, Rob Lowe, and Tina Fey. When Mark Bellison (Ricky Gervais) finds out that he can lie, he's able to manipulate his way through life with ease by creating one lie after another. Unlike everyone else, he can actually tell people what they want to hear, and this turns out to be his golden ticket. Soon enough, he scores huge success and the world is at his fingertips. And if things couldn't get any better, he's finally able to win the heart of Anna McDoogles (Jennifer Garner), the woman he loves - by lying.

As time goes on, however, Mark begins to experience the consequences of his evil ways. His past behavior comes back to haunt him - and in a big way. So how will Mark free himself of this web of lies he so carelessly spun? You'll just have to see for yourself. Watch the official trailer below.
